MOSCOW, Sep 18 (PRIME) -- Russian software developers ask for a government support exceeding 70 billion rubles to substitute foreign programs used by state entities, business daily Vedomosti reported late Tuesday on its website, referring to a presentation of a working group on information security of program Digital Economy.
A spokesperson for autonomous non-commercial organization Digital Economy said the program stipulates 5 billion rubles for these purposes.
The working group singled out several classes of software that need additional support, including operating systems, office applications, search systems, browsers and communication software, to name a few. Every class was accompanied with examples of companies that make such software and the amount of money that could be needed.
Natalya Kasperskaya, president of group of companies InfoWatch and head of the working group, said it is yet to be decided how certain companies that will get support will be picked.
